One of the most important things to understand about the game of Blackjack is how the value of the cards plays into the game. All of the cards from two through nine are worth their face value, the 10s, Jacks, Queens, and Kings are worth ten while the Ace can be either one or eleven depending on the preference of the player or dealer. These are the values you use when you count you hand to see how close you are to the number twenty one in blackjack.

The suites of the cards have no bearing on the game whatsoever. The Ace does not have to be a set value throughout the game but you can count it depending on whether the number one or number eleven will give you the best hand.
